Flight
Instruction
Tom Jeffries ~ CFI,
CFII, SEL, MEL
Born and raised in
west central
Indiana
, I received my initial pilot training at the
Porter
County
Airport
in
Valparaiso
,
IN.
One thing lead to another and I
went on to get my commercial, instrument, and instructor ratings.
I instructed part-time in
Colorado
for almost 10 years and in the process accumulated enough flight hours to be
considered for a commercial flying job. At
age 39, I landed my first airline job (no pun intended) with Britt Airways.
While at Britt I flew various turboprop commuter aircraft.
Through an airline acquisition, I flew the last eleven years of my career
with Continental Airlines. I had the
privilege of flying the B727, B757, and B767, domestic and international.
I left Continental in December, 2005 due to the mandatory age 60
retirement rule. Unfortunately for
me, they change the rule to age 65 two years after I retired.
After “retirement”, I began instructing at Flight Safety
International as a BE400 simulator instructor.
Later I flew the same plane as a corporate pilot.
My wife and I recently moved back to
Indiana
to be near family, and our move wasn’t complete until I found my flying home
at Franklin Flying Field.
In the last few years, the FAA has shifted from performance
based training to scenario based training in order to provide more realistic
training. Such training emphasis
worked exceedingly well at Flight Safety and I hope to incorporate such methods
with my students at Franklin Flying Field.
From Private, Commercial, Instrument, even ATP,
let your dreams become a reality. Call
or write today to get started.
